What’s the best way to spread holiday cheer? Is it by singing carols, enjoying festive treats, lighting up a Christmas tree, or giving back to those in need? At Kettering Heights Post Acute, we believe the correct answer is “all of the above,” and we know that when these things come together, something truly special happens.
That’s why this holiday season, our staff, residents, families, and neighbors gathered for our first annual Tree Lighting Event, an evening filled with warmth, laughter, and generosity. The event was created with two meaningful goals in mind: to bring our community together during the most wonderful time of the year, and to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association, a cause that is close to the hearts of many in our community.
From the moment the event began, the joy being felt and shared by all was unmistakable. Children and families lined up to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, capturing memories that will last long after the holidays have passed. A surprise visit from The Grinch added plenty of laughter, while a charming petting zoo that featured a Highland cow and even a Christmas unicorn delighted guests of all ages. The magic of the season truly came alive in every corner of the event.
As we all know, no holiday celebration would ever be truly complete without some tasty treats. Our guests enjoyed complimentary hot chocolate, popcorn, and hot dogs, keeping everyone warm, full, and smiling despite the winter chill.
As the Christmas tree lights sparkled to life, it was clear that the true highlight of the evening was not just the decorations, but the sense of connection and community that filled the air.
Alongside the fun, the spirit of giving remained front and center. Guests had the opportunity to purchase s’mores kits for just $1, with every dollar going directly to the Alzheimer’s Association. Additional fundraising efforts included selling Christmas baskets and raffle tickets, all contributing to a shared goal. Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, we were proud to raise and donate nearly $400 to the Alzheimer’s Association to support Alzheimer’s research, care, and advocacy.
Seeing our residents, staff, families, and neighbors come together for such an important cause was truly inspiring. Events like this reflect the heart of Kettering Heights Post Acute, where compassion, community, recovery, and care are part of everyday life.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and helped make our first annual Tree Lighting Event such a success! We look forward to continuing this new tradition for years to come and finding more ways to give back while celebrating the moments that bring us together.
From all of us at Kettering Heights Post Acute, thank you for helping us spread holiday cheer, one light, one smile, and one act of kindness at a time.
